The 461st Urs Mubarak of revered Sufi saint Baba Wali Hyder Rishi will be observed from April 17 to April 21, 2026, at the Astan Alia (holy shrine premises), drawing devotees, scholars, and spiritual seekers from across the region.
The annual Urs, which commemorates the saint’s spiritual legacy, is marked by a series of religious gatherings, prayers, and community activities aimed at promoting devotion, reflection, and unity.
Key Highlights
The central event of the Urs will be the Shab Khwani (Night of Prayer) on Sunday, April 19, beginning at 10:30 PM. The night-long congregation will include Darood-o-Azkar (remembrance of God) and Khatmat-ul-Muazzamat (collective recitations), concluding with the Fajr (dawn) prayer.
Earlier that evening, at around 9:00 PM, devotees will be served Tabarruk (blessed food), a customary practice symbolizing sharing and community bonding.
Five-Day Schedule
The Urs will unfold over five days with structured religious programs:
Friday, April 17: Opening ceremonies, including Purdah Kushai (ceremonial unveiling), Khatam rituals, and religious sermons.
Saturday, April 18: Ongoing preaching sessions, Chaddar Peshi (offering of ceremonial cloths at the shrine), and Naat recitations in praise of the Prophet.
Sunday, April 19: The peak day featuring major Khatmat rituals, Tabarruk distribution, and the Shab Khwani.
Monday, April 20: Special Khusoosi Majlis (private religious gatherings), continued preaching, and Chaddar offerings.
Tuesday, April 21: Concluding ceremonies, including Haazri (devotional attendance), final prayers, and Purdah Utarna (closing ritual) after Asr prayer.
Participation and Observances
Organizers have announced the participation of prominent scholars and Naat Khwans affiliated with institutions such as Idara Tehqiqat-e-Islami and local Jamia Masjids.
Devotees have been invited to attend the Shab Khwani and other gatherings to seek spiritual blessings. A note issued by the organizers also encourages attendees to observe Parhezgari (dietary restraint), specifically maintaining a vegetarian diet throughout the five-day period.
Emphasis on Sanctity and Cooperation
The organizing committee has appealed to participants to maintain discipline and uphold the sanctity of the shrine. Attendees are urged to cooperate fully to ensure the smooth and respectful conduct of all events.
The Urs of Baba Wali Hyder Rishi remains one of the significant spiritual observances in the region, reflecting the enduring influence of Sufi traditions in fostering communal harmony and devotion.
